The floating village of May Chhrey is located about 17 km from Siem Reap and consists of 250 floating houses. Take a traditional wooden boat for a ride to the village on the Tonle Sap Lake From August to January, a flooded forest can be visited as well. The village got its name from its pagoda May Chhrey (Big Bodhi tree) on a small hill. The road to this village is very scenic with water buffalo’s, lotus pounds and lots of birds.
This half-day tour takes in all the miniature famous historical buildings and structures, local customs and practices of all races. There are 11 unique villages, which represent different cultural heritages and characteristics of 19 races. At each village, visitors will see wooden houses, carving, traditional performances in different styles such as Apsara Dancing, performance of ethnic minorities from the Northeast of Cambodia, a traditional wedding ceremony, a circus, popular games, peacock dancing, acrobats, elephant shows, boxing and more.
